Why Vintage?
It is extremely difficult to create sustainable jewelry. The main reason: diamond and mineral sourcing. This is not the safest nor most ethical industry- since these gemstones are typically found in some of the poorest countries on earth. If that fact piques your interest, I suggest doing a quick google search on the term blood diamonds, just to get you started. Warning- it is very impactful information. There is also a sizable environmental impact related to the process of mining these materials (stones as well as gold). All of that being said, there are upcoming alternatives that have made a positive impact on our industry. Lab Grown Diamonds, mass recycling of materials, and a growing interest in vintage jewelry- to name a few. Our positive impact, as you know, is focused on vintage. By buying vintage- not only do you gain access to a one-of-a-kind, historical piece of art- but you also prevent unethical sourcing of at least one piece of jewelry. Overtime, that adds up. Not to mention the fact that jewelry does not decrease in value over time (provided good condition) & that the quality of workmanship has already been proved for decades.
